Poet and writer K. Satchidanandan has resigned from his post as president of the Kerala Sahitya Akademi.
Vice-president Ashokan Charuvil has also stepped down from his position.
Both leaders submitted their resignation letters via Email to the Secretary of the Cultural Affairs department.
Speaking to reporters, Mr. Satchidanandan said he was vacating the position following the change in government.
“It is natural that people holding similar posts vacate them following a change in government. I have come here to vacate the position,” he said.
Mr. Satchidanandan had been heading the Akademi for the last four years and his term was scheduled to end in May.
During the Assembly election campaign, Mr. Satchidanandan had courted controversy after stating that the LDF government should not return to power.
