A flurry of nominations were received for the nine Assembly constituencies in Tiruchi district on the last day of filing of nominations on Monday.

Among those who filed their nominations in the district was former AIADMK Member of Parliament P. Kumar. He filed his nomination papers for the Tiruverumbur constituency. Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam candidate Navapattu S. Viji too filed his papers for the constituency on Monday.

The AIADMK candidate for Lalgudi, Leema Rose, and the party candidate for Manapparai, P.L.Vijayakumar, filed their papers too. The Congress candidate, M.Lenin Prasath, filed his papers for Thuraiyur constituency.

DMK candidates S. Durairaj filed his nomination for the Srirangam constituency and N.S. Karunairaja for the Musiri constituency.

In all, 158 nominations were filed on Monday taking the total number of nominations to 276 in the nine Assembly constituencies in Tiruchi district.

As many as 100 candidates have filed their nominations for the Karur Assembly constituency. On the last day of polling, 24 nominations were filed in the constituency where former AIADMK Minister M.R.Vijayabhaskar will take on the DMK’s M. Thiyagarajan.

Thirty-two candidates have entered the fray in Krishnarayapuram (SC) constituency and 15 of them filed their nominations Monday.

For Kulithalai, 37 candidates have filed their nominations and 11 of them filed their papers on Monday.
