The 81st anniversary of the Soviet Union’s victory in World War II was celebrated here on Saturday under the auspices of the Honorary Consulate of Russia, International Russophile Movement and Russkiy Mir Foundation.
Photo exhibitions, seminars and a display of an 81-metre-long St. George Ribbon by 81 people were organised as part of the event. Many people, including Russian nuclear specialists, participated in the programmes held in Thiruvananthapuram and Koodankulam.
Russian representatives spoke about the heavy losses their families suffered during World War II. The event also featured an exhibition of photographs depicting key moments from the beginning of the war to the celebrations of victory. The exhibition concluded on Sunday.
