The Vedasandur Assembly segment in Dindigul district, a bellwether constituency since the 1957 election where the party returned by the electorate went on to capture power in Tamil Nadu, bucked the trend in the 2026 Assembly elections. This time, the DMK won the Assembly segment, but actor-politician C. Joseph Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) emerged as the single largest party in the State. T. Saminathan of the DMK won the seat by a margin of 10,063 votes, while the TVK finished third.
Barring the 1980 election, the Sholavandan Assembly segment in Madurai district has remained a bellwether since the 1957 polls. Interestingly, the trend continued in this election as well, with TVK candidate M.V. Karuppaiah winning the election by a margin of 2,678 votes.
