The HCL Foundation handed over five dialysis machines for the newly established dialysis unit at Ansari Nagar UPHC (Urban Primary Health Centre) Madurai on Thursday.
The machines were switched on by HCL Foundation officials in the presence of Corporation Commissioner Chitra Vijayan, TANKER Foundation founder trustee and chairman Georgi Abraham, and Managing Trustee Latha A. Kumaraswami.
A press release stated that the Madurai Municipal Corporation, along with Government Rajaji Hospital, was providing the required infrastructure and the equipment was being donated by HCL Foundation and HDFC, while Tamilnad Kidney Research (TANKER) Foundation would be managing and operating the dialysis services.
In her address, Ms. Chitra Vijayan said that the dialysis unit would benefit hundreds of underprivileged patients in and around Madurai by providing the much needed and accessible dialysis care closer to their homes.
Dr. Georgi Abraham conducted an assessment session for eligible CKD patients and highlighted the importance of early diagnosis, regular dialysis and continuous treatment support for renal patients.
