Two fish landing centres worth ₹49.5 crore to come up in ...
The Hindu Bureau · 2026-06-28 · via The Hindu: Latest News today from India and the World, Breaking news, Top Headlines and Trending News Videos.

In a major boost to the fisheries sector in Payakaraopeta Assembly constituency, Home Minister V. Anitha and Roads & Buildings Minister B.C. Janardhan Reddy on Sunday laid the foundation stone for two fish landing centres at Dondavaka and Rajayyapeta coast near Boyapadu in Nakkapalli mandal.

The two centres will be developed under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) at an estimated cost of ₹24.77 crore each. They are expected to provide modern infrastructure, including safe boat landing facilities, fish handling and marketing amenities, benefiting the local fishing community.

Addressing the gathering, Ms. Anitha said that of the three fish landing centres sanctioned for Andhra Pradesh, two had been allotted to Payakaraopeta, describing it as a significant achievement for the constituency.

She said the NDA government was giving equal priority to development and welfare, and added that development works worth nearly ₹600 crore had been taken up in the constituency over the past two years. Of this, projects worth around ₹100 crore had been executed by the Roads & Buildings Department, she said.

The Home Minister also announced that a BC Welfare Girls’ Hostel had been sanctioned for the constituency and that a multi-speciality hospital would be established soon.

Mr. Janardhan Reddy criticised the previous government for allegedly neglecting development and said the present government was accelerating infrastructure creation across the State. He added that the opposition was unable to accept the pace of development.

Later, the two Ministers inaugurated the newly constructed Uddandapuram–Tirupatipalem road in Nakkapalli mandal, built by the Roads & Buildings Department at a cost of ₹7 crore.
