The Andhra Pradesh Union of Working Journalists (APUWJ) State deputy general secretary P.S.S.V. Prasada Rao on Tuesday has asked the government to reconstitute 'Attacks Prevention Committees' comprising of journalists, police officials and other neutral persons to protect reporters from physical attacks in the State. Along with APUWJ Vizianagaram district president V. Mahapatro and vice presidents Panchadi Apparao and Aripaka Ramu, he strongly condemned the murder of Jaganmohan Reddy, a satellite channel journalist in V. Kota, Chittoor district.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Prasada Rao said that if constituted, the 'Attacks Prevention Committees,' would take necessary steps to protect journalists who are being targeted by unlawful elements. He also requested journalists to write reports in a professional manner without giving scope for partiality. The association’s State executive member M.S.N. Raju, Ethics Committee chairman Elisetti Suresh, Welfare Committee president Lingala Narasinga Rao and others were present.
