The ‘Cockroach Janata Party’ trend that has gone viral on social media should not be viewed merely through a political prism, but as an indication of the growing frustration and anxiety among the youth over employment and future opportunities, observes TDP State president and Gajuwaka MLA Palla Srinivasa Rao.
Addressing the media here on Sunday, Mr. Srinivasa Rao observed that rising concerns over jobs, competitive examinations, economic uncertainty and career prospects created visible emotional distress among young people. He said democratic governments must respond to such sentiments with sensitivity and responsibility rather than dismiss them outright.
He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu had consistently focused on employment generation, investment mobilisation and long-term economic growth.
“The NDA governments are implementing structured policies aimed at creating jobs through initiatives such as Digital India, industrial expansion, start-up promotion, manufacturing growth and attracting global investments,” Mr. Srinivasa Rao said.
He said the emergence of emotionally-driven social media campaigns should also serve as an opportunity for policymakers to introspect and reassess public expectations. “The governments must ensure that young people feel their aspirations are being acknowledged and translated into meaningful opportunities,” he observed.
At the same time, he cautioned against misuse of social media platforms and said authorities should remain vigilant about the possibility of hostile external elements attempting to influence online discourse.
Every criticism, or expression of dissatisfaction should not be branded as anti-national, adding that a healthy democracy must be capable of distinguishing between genuine public sentiment and malicious interference.
Criticising opposition parties for “exploiting” youth frustration for political advantage, Mr. Srinivasa Rao said turning unemployment concerns into partisan propaganda would weaken democratic values rather than strengthen them.
“Listening to criticism is not a weakness but a sign of mature leadership,” he said, adding that India’s youth were seeking opportunities, transparency and responsive governance, and the NDA governments remain committed to addressing those aspirations while safeguarding national interests.
