A 26-year-old man was arrested by Narsingi police in connection with a molestation case reported from Alkapur Township earlier this week.
The accused was identified as Vadde Nagaraju, a resident of Puppalguda and a native of Mahabubnagar district.
The incident was reported on May 14, when a woman was returning after picking up her two-and-a-half-year-old child from a nearby playschool. The accused, who was then unidentified, followed the victim from the main road and behaved indecently by pulling her dress and fled from the spot after the victim raised an alarm.
CCTV footage of the incident surfaced on social media platforms.
Based on the complaint lodged by the victim on May 19, police registered a case under Sections 78 and 79 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Special police teams were formed to investigate the case, and the accused was subsequently identified and apprehended.
Police said preliminary investigation and verification revealed that the accused had no previous criminal record and was not involved in similar offences earlier.
