A consultative meeting on the preparatory works for the 49th Yercaud Summer Festival and Flower Show was held under the chairmanship of the district Collector A. Arun Thamburaj at the Yercaud Block Development Office here on May 13, 2026, Wednesday.
Officials from various government departments, representatives of hotels, traders’ associations and other stakeholders participated in the meeting held to discuss arrangements for the annual event, which attracts a large number of tourists to the hill station every year. The dates for the festival are yet to be finalised as permission has been sought from the State government to conduct it in the third or fourth week of May.
The Collector said the district administration will take steps to ensure the smooth conduct of the festival and provide a pleasant experience for tourists, residents and children. Officials were instructed to regulate vehicle movement in Yercaud to prevent traffic congestion during the festival period and to install adequate signboards to guide tourists to important destinations in and around the hill station.
He also directed officials to regulate roadside shops to avoid inconvenience to visitors and to provide sufficient parking facilities for two-wheelers and four-wheelers at tourist spots. Arrangements should be made to ensure uninterrupted supply of drinking water and proper maintenance of public toilets, he said.
Additional warning signboards should be installed on ghat roads wherever necessary, and road barriers should be painted and maintained to improve visibility for motorists during night hours, the Collector added.
In view of the increasing number of tourists during the summer season, Rural Development department officials were instructed to remove garbage from roadsides and tourist spots promptly. Hotel owners, traders and shopkeepers were also asked to create awareness among tourists against littering in public places.
