Extensive traffic restrictions and heightened security measures are in place across Hyderabad and Secunderabad on Sunday in connection with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s public meeting at Parade Grounds..

With VVIP convoy movement and heavy public turnout of around 1 lakh anticipated between 1 p.m. and 9 p.m., Malkajgiri police have advised commuters to avoid major stretches surrounding Parade Grounds, Paradise, Patny, Begumpet and adjoining arterial roads.

Commuters travelling from Begumpet towards Sangeet junction will be diverted towards the Paradise–Patny–Clock Tower route, with diversions at CTO junction. Motorists heading between Begumpet and Trimulgherry are required to take flyover route via St John’s Rotary, Shenoy, AOC and KV junction.

Vehicles travelling from Balanagar towards Secunderabad will be diverted at Balanagar junction towards Fathenagar, Ameerpet, Punjagutta, Begumpet and Sangeet. An alternate route via Punjagutta, Begumpet, Rasoolpura junction, Minister Road and Ranigunj is also suggested.

Commuters moving between Secunderabad and Trimulgherry have been advised to travel through Clock Tower, Sangeet, St John’s Rotary, Shenoy, AOC and KV Junction. Those travelling towards Bowenpally from Secunderabad can take the Clock Tower–Patny–Paradise–CTO route.

Traffic from Tank Bund towards Trimulgherry will be routed through Paradise, CTO, Tadbund, Diamond Point and Bowenpally Market to avoid congestion around the venue.

Police said roadside parking is strictly prohibited on all major stretches surrounding Parade Grounds. Vehicles parked illegally will be towed and prosecuted. Heavy vehicles, RTC buses and private travel coaches have been advised to avoid roads leading to the venue during the restriction period.

Officials said 12 designated parking locations have been earmarked for attendees, with QR-code based navigation systems provided for public convenience. Buses arriving from districts, including Nalgonda, Khammam, Warangal and Bhongir, have been instructed to park near Uppal Stadium, from where attendees are expected to use Metro Rail services to reach Parade Grounds.

Police have urged people to rely on Metro Rail and other public transport systems as far as possible, warning of delays due to congestion and convoy movement. Traffic conditions will be monitored through CCTV surveillance and control rooms, while real-time updates will be issued through social media and FM radio channels.

Ahead of the event, increased police activity was visible across the city on Saturday, particularly along the Begumpet Airport–Parade Grounds route and stretches leading towards Hitec City, where the Prime Minister is scheduled to attend multiple programmes. Hundreds of traffic and law and order personnel were seen conducting route rehearsals, surveillance checks and security drills.

Security arrangements at the venue have also been significantly intensified. Entry will be allowed only through designated gates after thorough screening. Officials said items including laptops, cameras, drones, bags, banners, water bottles, helmets, perfumes, cigarettes, matchboxes, lighters, sharp objects, outside food and electronic gadgets would not be permitted inside the venue.

More than 2,000 law and order personnel and around 620 traffic police personnel have been deployed for the event, along with specialised forces including National Security Guard (NSG) and Organisation for Counter Terrorist Operations (OCTOPUS) teams. Bomb disposal squads, sniffer dog teams and electronic verification systems have also been deployed across the venue and parking zones.
