Telangana Health Minister C. Damodar Raja Narasimha directed officials to take steps to strengthen nursing education and infrastructure in the State, including establishing 10 B.Sc Nursing colleges and one postgraduate nursing college under the State government.
During a meeting in Hyderabad, the Minister reviewed measures aimed at strengthening the Telangana Nursing Council and improving opportunities for nursing students and professionals.
The minister instructed officials to provide admission opportunities for General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) students in Post-Basic B.Sc Nursing courses to support their career progression. “We must focus on expanding higher education opportunities in the nursing sector in view of the changing healthcare landscape and increasing demand for trained nursing professionals,” he said.
The minister also directed officials to prepare an action plan to strengthen midwifery courses in nursing colleges across the State. He further said that the government was in the process of creating the post of Registrar for the Telangana Nursing Council as part of efforts to improve its administrative functioning.
Officials were also instructed to ensure that adequate basic amenities are provided at the Nursing Council office for students and nurses visiting for administrative work and other services.
