Tamil Nadu Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar and Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay on Wednesday (May 27, 2026) extended greetings on the eve of Bakrid.
In a statement issued from Lok Bhavan, the Governor said, “On this blessed occasion of Eid al-Adha, may your homes be filled with joy, your hearts with peace, and your lives with prosperity. This sacred festival reminds us of the timeless values of sacrifice, compassion, and unwavering faith. Eid al-Adha inspires us to embrace the spirit of sharing, empathy, unity, and harmony, strengthening the bonds that hold our diverse society together. May this festival bring happiness, goodwill, and renewed hope to all.”

The Chief Minister, in a statement, said, “On the auspicious occasion of Bakrid, the festival of sacrifice, I extend my heartfelt greetings and best wishes to all Muslim brothers and sisters.”
He said Bakrid stands as a sacred occasion that reminds humanity of noble values such as faith in God, sacrifice, compassion, sharing, and humanism. Bakrid also emphasises the importance of sharing happiness with everyone and reinforces the need for love and equality to prevail in society.
