Prayers, floral tributes and a commemorative meeting was organised by the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee at its headquarters, Indira Bhavan, on Thursday, in memory of the late Prime Minister, Rajiv Gandhi, on his 35th death anniversary.
Inaugurating the commemorative meeting, Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan said that Rajiv Gandhi’s martyrdom and the brutal manner in which he was assassinated, was a very painful memory that fails to erase itself.
The former Prime Minister will always be remembered as someone who took the lead to guide the nation into an era of science, technology and communication revolution, alongside the push for infrastructure development, Mr. Satheesan said.
He remembered Rajiv Gandhi as a soft-spoken, kind and elegant leader and one who took care to take everyone in the party together.
KPCC president and Electricity Minister Sunny Joseph presided over the meeting.
Those who spoke on the occasion included the Tourism Minister P.C. Vishnunath, Revenue Minister A.P .Anilkumar, Agriculture Minister T. Siddique, Labour Minister Bindu Krishna and SC/ST Development Minister K.A. Thulasi, Kodikkunnil Suresh, MP and AICC General Secretary in charge of Kerala, Deepa Dasmunshi, among others.
