The Byndoor police in Udupi district have arrested Mahendra Sain, 23, a native of Setrawa in Jodhpur district in Rajasthan, in connection with burglary at a house in Yedtare village of Byndoor taluk on April 23.
In a press note, the police said a complaint was filed by Raval Singh about burglars entering his locked house between 3 p.m. and 10 p.m. on April 23 and decamping with ₹6 lakh kept in a cupboard. A case was registered under Sections 331 (3), 331(4) and 305 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Investigation into the case revealed involvement of Sain, who was living in a rented house, a few meters away from the house of Singh. A special team led by Byndoor Police Sub Inspector traced Sain and arrested him on May 7. The ₹6 lakh stolen by Sain was recovered in full, the police said.
