The Central Crime Branch (CCB) busted a gang smuggling narcotic substances into Bengaluru through international courier services, and an inter-State racket.

In the two separate operations, Bengaluru City Police seized drugs worth nearly ₹2.40 crore, including hydro ganja, MDMA and cannabis. Four persons have been arrested.

Addressing reporters on May 26, Bengaluru Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh said that the accused were sourcing banned narcotics from foreign countries through parcels sent via the Indian Postal Department’s international courier network.

Hydro ganja seized from international parcels

According to the police, the CCB received specific information from Customs officials regarding three suspicious parcels that had arrived at the Kempegowda International Airport’s postal facility from abroad.

Based on the intelligence from Customs officials, CCB officers conducted a raid and seized 3.312 kilograms of banned hydro ganja concealed inside the parcels. The seized contraband is estimated to be worth around ₹1.16 crore in the illegal market.

Police arrested Kiran Kumar Samar Ali and Ithahas Khureshi in connection with the racket. A case has been registered at the Kempegowda Nagar police station. Further investigation is underway to trace the larger network involved in the supply chain.

Two more held with MDMA, ganja

In a parallel operation, Jeevan Bima Nagar police intercepted a Kerala-registered car on Tunnel Road following credible information about drug transportation.

Officers seized 27 grams of MDMA and 1.272 kilograms of ganja from the car, which was also seized. Police arrested two persons, identified as Junaid and Mohammed. The drugs seized in this operation are valued at approximately ₹4 lakh.

Police said the combined value of narcotics seized in both operations is around ₹2.40 crore.
