The Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA) has won two gold trophies at the Greentech CSR Awards 2026 in Healthcare Promotion and Skill Development categories within Andhra Pradesh.
Both VPA chairperson and deputy chairperson M. Angamuthu and Roshni A Korati congratulated the team on the achievement, informing that the formal award ceremony is scheduled to take place during the Greentech CSR Summit in New Delhi on May 12 and 13.
In the healthcare sector, key projects included the funding of mid-day meals for students in unaided schools and the installation of high-quality water filter units across multiple locations. The port also introduced innovative Arogyam Preventive Health and Safe Drinking Water ATM units to improve public access to clean water.
Further enhancing city safety and public health, the authority provided 100 air-conditioned helmets to traffic personnel in Visakhapatnam to help them manage with extreme weather conditions.
The port also deployed drone surveillance systems within harbour limits to bolster safety. Significant medical contributions included the administration of HPV vaccines to students at Queen Mary’s Government Girls High School and the distribution of artificial limbs to physically challenged individuals.
The second gold award focused on the port’s efforts in skill development. Specific initiatives included the distribution of sewing machines to promote women’s empowerment and vocational training programmes for tribal youth in the Alluri Sitharama Raju district.
