Cyberabad Police Commissioner M. Ramesh reviewed preparedness of the Police department to handle monsoon-related challenges, including waterlogging, traffic congestion and tree falls, during a virtual meeting with Traffic and Law and Order officials on Monday.

He assessed the status of waterlogging points across various police station limits and directed officials to take preventive measures in vulnerable areas. He instructed officers to coordinate closely with relevant departments to ensure that issues arising during heavy rainfall are addressed without delay, and to closely monitor weather forecasts and alert personnel deployed in sensitive locations well in advance of adverse weather conditions.

He asked officials to coordinate with National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams in areas prone to waterlogging. Law and Order Station House Officers were directed to deploy additional personnel and maintain close monitoring during periods of heavy rain.

He instructed officials to work with civic authorities to identify natural water flow channels and take necessary measures to facilitate quicker drainage and minimise water accumulation on roads.

During the review, he also examined the status of ongoing and completed roadworks and directed that specific responsibilities be assigned to officers for managing duties at waterlogging locations. Officials were instructed to take measures to prevent vehicle breakdowns and minimise traffic disruptions during the monsoon season.

The Commissioner stressed that the Traffic and Law and Order wings should work in close coordination with civic bodies, the NDRF and other departments to ensure minimal inconvenience to the public during heavy rains.

Additional DCP (Traffic) Hanumantha Rao, Traffic ACP Chandrashekhar Reddy and other Traffic and Law and Order officials attended the meeting.
