Burglars decamped with 25 sovereigns of gold jewellery from a house at Peruvangur near Kallakurichi on Tuesday night.
Police said G. Sujatha was living with her family in Peruvangur for the past few years. She, along with her two children, had gone to Salem a few days ago. After returning home on Tuesday, Sujatha noticed that the front door lock was damaged. On checking, she found the valuables missing.
On being informed, the Kallakurichi police rushed to the house with forensic experts. A case has been registered and further investigations are on.
