More than 50 vehicles, which were seized for involvement in traffic violations and accidents, were destroyed in a fire accident near Poonamallee on Sunday.
Avadi police said several such vehicles under the Avadi Traffic Investigation Wing Police Station were kept on vacant land near the junction of Poonamallee High Road and Senneerkuppam Bypass Service Road.
On Sunday, the fire erupted from one of the vehicles and soon spread to all the vehicles. On being informed, Fire and Rescue Services personnel of Poonamallee Fire Station rushed to the scene and extinguished the fire. More than 50 two-wheelers were gutted. The Poonamallee police have registered a case and are investigating.
