The Malkajgiri traffic police booked 714 cases during a special enforcement drive conducted against the use of unauthorised and high beam vehicle lights across the Trimulgherry traffic division on Monday (May 25).

The drive was carried out to curb the use of modified and high-intensity lights that pose a risk to road safety, particularly during night hours.

According to the police, motorists were booked for using unauthorised high beam lights, modified lights and for operating vehicles without proper headlights, in violation of Central Motor Vehicles Rules.

Among the police stations, Begumpet traffic police booked 239 cases, Trimulgherry traffic police booked 233 cases and Alwal traffic police booked 242 cases. Police said the use of such lights causes inconvenience and temporary blindness to other motorists and could lead to accidents.

ACP, Traffic Trimulgherry Division, G. Shankar Raju said special drives would continue in the interest of public safety and smooth traffic management.
