Kanniyakumari police recovered 320 lost mobiles worth ₹48 lakh and handed them over to the rightful owners on Saturday.
Kanniyakumari District Superintendent of Police (SP) R. Stalin appreciated the efforts of cyber crime wing personnel involved in tracing the phones, and handed over the mobile phones to owners at an event organised at the SP office in Nagercoil.
According to police officials, around 1,265 mobile phones worth nearly ₹2 crore were traced and returned to their owners during the previous year alone.
Several petitions regarding missing mobile phones had been received at police stations across Kanniyakumari district. Acting on the complaints, Mr. Stalin directed the officials to take appropriate action.
Following the instructions, cyber crime wing police personnel were continuously engaged in tracing and recovering the missing mobile phones. Through sustained efforts, police successfully recovered 320 mobile phones valued at ₹48 lakh.
Police advised the public to immediately lodge complaints at the nearest police station if their mobile phones go missing. Complaints can also be registered through the Tamil Nadu police citizen portal (https://eservices.tnpolice.gov.in) and through CEIR portal (https://www.ceir.gov.in) lost mobile phones can be blocked.
