The World Blood Donor Day, observed annually on June 14, serves as a reminder of the vital role played by voluntary blood donors in strengthening healthcare systems and ensuring an adequate supply of safe blood, said Senthil Kumar Nallusamy, Chief Cardiologist, Rana Hospital, Tiruchi.

Regular voluntary blood donation not only benefits recipients but promotes a sense of social responsibility and community service among donors, Dr. Senthil Kumar said. He was inaugurating a blood donation camp on the eve of World Blood Donor Day organised in association with Tiruchi Reddy Nala Trust and Uyir Thuli Blood Bank at the Vignesh Sri Renga Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Srirangam on Saturday.

“Blood is a precious resource that cannot be manufactured artificially and can only come from generous donors. A single unit of blood donated has the potential to save lives,” he said.

Appreciation certificates were distributed to blood donors at the camp. Tiruchi Reddy Nala Trust president Puniyamurthy and secretary Raja Chidambaram were present.
