Toshiba Transmission & Distribution Systems (India) (TTDI) has delivered its indigenously developed 132kV m-GIS system to Power Grid Corporation of India (POWERGRID).

The development and delivery of the 132kV m-GIS system marks another major milestone in its ongoing efforts to broaden indigenous mobile high-voltage solutions portfolio in India, the company said on Monday.

It follows the delivery of India’s first 220kV m-GIS system to the same customer a few months ago. TTDI, which has its advanced manufacturing facility in Rudraram, near Hyderabad, said it is in the advanced stages of engineering its indigenous 400kV m-GIS system for delivery later this year.

A compact, highly mobile solution, the indigenous 132kV m-GIS system has been developed and engineered in India “reflecting our strong commitment to the government’s ‘Make in India’ mission. It leverages Toshiba’s technology and local engineering capabilities,” CMD Hiroshi Furuta said.

The system features a standardised ‘Connect–Operate–Disconnect–Redeploy’ configuration that significantly enhances agility and operational flexibility across the grid. It is engineered to fit standard transport trailers, withstand mechanical vibration and transport stresses, maintain critical electrical clearances and support seamless integration at live project sites, the company said.

TTDI had last year inaugurated a new CRGO core-processing centre and surge arrester line with plans for EHV transformer capacity expansion. It has also signed an MoU with the Telangana government to invest ₹ 562 crore, on the plant, as part of a broader JPY 55 billion investment by Toshiba to strengthen production capacity in India and Japan.
