In a renewed push to promote the use of khadi among public servants, the State government has urged government employees and staff of aided institutions, corporations, boards, autonomous bodies and universities to voluntarily wear khadi attire on the first Saturday of every month and during official functions such as Independence Day and Republic Day celebrations.
As part of the initiative, a temporary khadi sales stall will be set up on the new Deputy Commissioner’s Office premises on Bannur Road in Mysuru on May 14 and 15 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., enabling employees to purchase khadi garments with ease.
The move follows a circular issued by the Chief Secretary to the State government on January 29, 2026, encouraging wider adoption of khadi in official circles.
District Khadi and Village Industries Officer Sharath Chandra, in a release, appealed to the government employees to make use of the facility. For details, the public may contact 0821-2566428 or 9480825633.
