Kerala State Human Rights Commission (KSHRC) member V. Geetha has ordered immediate action on a complaint alleging that the authorities at the Government Medical College, Parippally are refusing to return the original certificates of a female student.
The student, a native of Aduthala, had secured an MBBS admission under the disability quota but is currently facing severe difficulties in continuing her medical studies due to a hearing impairment.
The Commission has directed the Medical College superintendent to intervene in the matter urgently, take all possible measures to resolve the issue, and submit a detailed report via e-mail and post within seven days.
Highlighting the gravity of the situation, the Commission stated in its order that a student cannot be denied the opportunity for further education simply because their certificates are being withheld. The case is scheduled to be taken up for consideration at the Commission headquarters in Thiruvananthapuram on June 3.
