A three-day training programme for Census 2027 enumerators, supervisory officers, and technical assistants was conducted at the Erode Collectorate from May 19 to May 21, 2026.

Preparatory work for Census 2027 is currently under way in the district. As part of the first phase, the House Listing and Housing Census will be conducted from August 1 to August 31. The 2027 Census in the State will be carried out entirely through modern digital technology, using online data entry and uploading systems. For the first time, self-enumeration will be introduced in Census 2027 from July 17 to July 31.

District Collector S. Kandasamy, serves as the Principal Census Officer for the district. For the Erode Corporation area, the Corporation Commissioner functions as the Principal Census Officer. In Erode district, the Sub-Collector of Gobichettipalayam and the Revenue Divisional Officer of Erode serve as divisional-level Census Officers.

Further, the Principal Census Officer and District Collector have appointed 10 Tahsildars, five Municipal Commissioners, and 41 Town Panchayat Executive Officers in the district as supervisory officers. The four Zonal Assistant Commissioners in the Corporation area have also been appointed as supervisory officers. A two-day basic training programme for technical assistants had already been completed in March.

Under the leadership of the Principal Census Officer and District Collector, the three-day training programme was conducted, in which 250 officers, including district census officials, participated.
