Jana Sena Party (JSP) president and Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan has said the party would oppose anyone who betrayed the country and posed a threat to the nation’s integrity, and not tolerate forces spreading secessionist ideologies, regional hatred and differences among people.
Addressing the inaugural session of the JSP meeting titled Sena Prasthanam — Jateeya Samagratha Kosam (the party’s journey towards national integration) in New Delhi on Monday, Mr. Kalyan said the party would take the forces bent on dividing the nation seriously. He observed that the JSP was launched in 2014 as a people’s movement and it never craved for power or positions.
The basic objective was to protect the country’s unity and integrity. The party was gaining strength as many people including from other States were joining it to take its ideology forward, he asserted.
Mr. Pawan Kalyan invoked the Telugu literary work Sumathi Shatakam, saying “a powerful serpent can be killed by a swarm of tiny ants”. The metaphor applied to national politics, he said, where “the collective actions of ordinary individuals with divisive mindsets” could weaken the country.
Inspiring Gen Z
Turning to the young, Mr. Pawan Kalyan said, “It is our responsibility to pass on patriotic values to Gen Z. They must be educated about their fundamental rights and duties. Jana Sena will show the next generation what honest politics and ethical governance look like.” He said the country’s destiny would shift to another level only when coming generations moved forward with progressive thoughts.
Mr. Kalyan said the JSP never opposed the formation of Telangana and it only criticised the manner in which the unified State of Andhra Pradesh was bifurcated by the Congress party. The flawed process of bifurcation created differences between the two States and the wounds were still festering.
The party has two MPs in the Lok Sabha and one in the Rajya Sabha but they have a big responsibility to fulfill as they (MPs) represent the entire nation. The JSP would show the next generation what honest politics and ethical governance look like and work inspirationally to lay strong foundations for the country, Mr. Kalyan added.
Issues in focus
Addressing media persons later, JSP Political Affairs Committee chairman and Civil Supplies Minister Nadendla Manohar said the meeting discussed five topics namely the achievement of Viksit Bharat Vision, Nation First, reconstruction of Andhra Pradesh, the party’s 12-year journey, and the role of Gen Z in politics.
He noted that the purpose of organising the meeting in the national capital was to foster responsibility and patriotism in every citizen thereby promoting national integration beyond selfish politics, and leaders from A.P. and some other States appreciated Mr. Pawan Kalyan for working towards nationalism by transcending caste, religion and regions, and unanimously supported the steps taken by him with the goal of uniting all the people of the country.
Minister Kandula Durgesh, MPs Vallabhaneni Balashowry and T. Uday Srinivas, MLCs K. Nagababu, MLA Konathala Ramakrishna, Government Whips Bolisetti Srinivas and Bommidi Nayakar, JSP general secretary Ram Talluri and others were present.
