The upcoming movie of Dhanush has been titled Om. To be directed by Rajkumar Periasamy, the Tamil movie will release in two parts.

On June 18, 2026, the makers announced the title with a teaser. In the video, a group of woodcutters is held at gunpoint by a bunch of policemen. In the nick of time, they are saved by Dhanush’s character, who is seen taking on the police officers. The action sequence takes place inside a forest during intense rain.

The first part of the movie has a tagline that reads: Udhiram: The Blood Wood. Produced by Dhanush’s Wunderbar Films and Shraddha Agrawal of R Take Studios, the movie is set to release on October 16, 2026.

Malayalam superstar Mammootty will play a prominent role in the movie. Sai Pallavi and Sreeleela are also part of the movie.

Om will have music from Sai Abhyankkar, who recently worked for the blockbuster Karuppu, starring Suriya and directed by R J Balaji. Ezhil Arasu is the cinematographer of Om.

Rajkumar Periasamy made his debut with Amaran. The blockbuster war movie, produced by Kamal Haasan’s Raaj Kamal Films International, starred Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi in lead roles.

The Hindu review of the movie said, “With Amaran, Rajkumar Periasamy hits it out of the park once again thanks to a pacy screenplay, marvellous performances and brilliant technical prowess, especially from GV Prakash who, apart from accentuating the mass sequences with rousing music, skillfully uses silence during the poignant moments.”

Dhanush was last seen in Kara, directed by Vignesh Raja of Por Thozhil fame. The movie also starred Mamitha Baiju, KS Ravikumar, Karunaas and Suraj Venjaramoodu in prominent roles.

“After sitting through a 161-minute film that also involves bank loan scams and the Gulf War that led to fuel rationing, we are left to ask one pertinent question: Where is the pure genre film with a tight screenplay that Vignesh Raja promised us?.”
