The role of municipal workers in development of Vijayawada is invaluable, and their services during the pandemic and the 2024 floods are unforgettable, said MP Kesineni Sivanath on Wednesday.

He was speaking during a community lunch organised for municipal workers by the United Telugu Kitchens (UTK) at their outlet in Vijayawada on Wednesday, to mark the beginning of its 5th anniversary year.

Appreciating the restaurant management for serving food to the municipal workers, the MP said that if Telugu cuisine is popular across the world, it is because of entrepreneurs like Koushik Koganti and Theji Pinnamaneni, who founded UTK. “Today whichever country you go to, be it Japan, the United States of America, South Africa you see people appreciating Telugu food,” Mr. Kesineni added.

According to a release from the management, the community lunch is the first initiative in a series of anniversary-led events planned for the whole year. The co-founders said that the community lunch was organised for workers to thank them for their contribution to the development of the city.

Vijaya Dairy chairman Chalasani Anjaneyulu and others participated in the programme.
