1. Governor Ravi bids farewell to Tamil Nadu; State Cabinet stays away

None of the members of the Tamil Nadu Cabinet were present at the Chennai airport when R.N. Ravi completed his Governorship tenure and bid farewell to the State this morning. Last week, he was transferred as the Governor of West Bengal.

Mr. Ravi was accorded a guard of honour by the State police at the Chennai airport. Besides some senior officials from the Public Department, a few staff from the Lok Bhavan were present when Mr. Ravi left Chennai. Incidentally, many of the Ministers had official commitments on Wednesday morning.

2. PM Modi at Tiruchi: Takes a dig at DMK; reacts on LPG shortage crisis

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during a government function at Tiruchi, inaugurated, dedicated and laid the foundation stone for multiple development projects across Tamil Nadu worth about ₹5,650 crore and said these projects would create thousands of jobs for the youth of the State.

Later, he who addressed during a rally of National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the city, took a jibe at the DMK rule and said that people wanted a government that worked for every family, and not just for one family. Further, he said West Asia conflict has affected whole world’s energy supply chain. “In any situation, we have seen how our government always puts interests of India above everything. No need to panic or pay attention to rumours,‘’ he stated.

3. Class 10 public exams begin in Tamil Nadu

The Class 10 board exams began in Tamil Nadu, and most students found the first paper, Tamil language, to be easy.

A total of 9,09,002 candidates registered for the exam, including 8,82,806 school students and 26,196 private candidates, at 4,219 centres across the State. As many as 12,292 scribes were engaged, and 395 prison inmates had registered to take the exam.

4. Kerosene bombs hurled at Congress MP Karti Chidambaram’s office

Kerosene bombs were hurled by unknown assailants at the office of former Union Minister P. Chidambaram and MP Karti Chidambaram in Subramaniyapuram, Karaikudi.

As Mr. Karti Chidambaram’s recent interview regarding the U.S./Israel-Iran war had sparked controversy, leading to protest posters and demonstrations against him across Sivaganga district, the police have steered their investigation in that direction.

5. Exploration along Pambai river yields Iron Age cultural materials

Surface-level field investigations by archaeologists from the Tamil Nadu State Department of Archaeology (TNSDA) along the banks of the Pambai river in Villupuram district, have yielded significant finds such as Iron Age urn burials, potsherds, glass beads, ring wells and ceramics, indicating the potential for full-scale excavations in the region.
