A day after her party suffered a massive setback in the West Bengal Assembly elections 2026, West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress chairperson Mamata Banerjee said on Tuesday (May 5, 2026) that she will not resign as the Chief Minister since she “did not lose the elections”.
“The question does not arise. We did not lose elections. It is their forceful attempt to defeat us. Officially, through the Election Commission, they may defeat us. But morally I am telling you, we won the election,” she said when asked if she will meet the Governor to offer her resignation.
