As many as 33 sheep and goats were killed in a lightning strike at Kumarapalayam near Vellianai on Friday.
The livestock belonged to Krishnasamy. The sheep and goats were sheltered in a shed when lightning struck. The dead livestock is valued at around ₹4 lakh.
On information, the veterinarians of the Department of Animal Husbandry rushed to the spot and conducted enquiries.
