An unclaimed boat suspected to be of Pakistani origin was found abandoned in a creek area along the Gujarat coast in Kutch district on Wednesday (May 6, 2026), officials said.
BSF personnel recovered fishing equipment from the vessel, but no suspicious materials were found. The boat was located near the India–Pakistan maritime boundary in the Arabian Sea.
Security has been heightened in the area, and investigations are underway to determine the origin of the vessel.
Officials noted that Indian fishermen are prohibited from entering the creek, while Pakistani fishermen have, on occasion, crossed into Indian waters to fish. In several such instances, these fishermen have reportedly abandoned their boats and retreated towards the Pakistani side upon detecting BSF patrols.
