Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao announced that the State Cabinet Sub-Committee has decided to procure jowar (sorghum) along with maize, in order to safeguard the interests of farmers.

The Minister stated that while the Telangana government is already purchasing maize using its own funds, despite no support from the Centre, it will now extend procurement to jowar as well. He emphasised that this decision would provide significant relief to farmers who are struggling to get remunerative prices in the open market.
