A dedicated palliative care unit offering inpatient, outpatient, day-care and home-based services was inaugurated at K.C. General Hospital in Malleswaram on Tuesday (May 5, 2026), marking a step towards strengthening support for patients with advanced and life-limiting illnesses.
The facility has been established in collaboration with Saranam India, a non-profit in the field of palliative care, under a three-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the State Health Department, effective April 2026. The agreement envisages the creation of a comprehensive palliative care programme at the hospital, including outpatient consultations, structured day-care services, an inpatient ward for complex cases, and a mobile unit to deliver care at patients’ homes.
