The Lokayukta police caught a police inspector of Gurmitkal Police Station red-handed while he was accepting a bribe late on Saturday (May 9) evening.
According to a press release from Deputy Superintendent of Police (Lokayukta) J.H. Inamdar, Police Inspector Veeranna Doddamani was taken into custody after he was caught accepting a bribe of ₹1 lakh from complainant Anand Bhajantri at his residential quarters in Gurmitkal.
“The police inspector had demanded ₹1 lakh from Mr. Bhajantri for not arresting the accused in crime number 95/2026 and filing a charge-sheet in crime number 96/2026,” Mr. Inamdar said, adding that the Lokayukta police team took the accused into custody.
An investigation is under way.
