Rathinam Global Deemed to be University (RGU) was inaugurated on a Friday at the Rathinam Techzone Campus in Coimbatore under the Rathinam Group of Institutions. The event marked the launch of the institution and the commencement of its academic structure.
The inauguration was presided over by Madan A. Sendhil, Chairman of Rathinam Institutions and IT Parks. Kumar Vembu attended as the chief guest. The programme brought together academicians, industry representatives, policymakers and subject experts.
Nine schools under the university were launched during the event. The inauguration of each school was carried out by invited guests from different sectors, including education platforms, technology companies, policy organisations, entrepreneurship and sports. Participants included representatives from Coursera, Cognizant, Ericsson, PolicyBazaar, Rocket Learning, Harvard Business School Online, CODISSIA and others.
The Rathinam Global Deemed to be University was established with an integrated education and IT park system. The institution holds NAAC A++ accreditation and follows an academic model aligned with the National Education Policy 2020, focusing on interdisciplinary learning and industry interaction.
The campus combines academic blocks with IT park facilities to support internships, training, entrepreneurship and industry-linked learning. According to organisers, the event had participation from vice chancellors, academic leaders, corporate representatives and subject experts.
An Academic Council was also launched during the event to support coordination between academia and industry, along with policy discussion and research activity. The initiative is intended to support multidisciplinary academic development and institutional collaboration within the university framework.
