In a move aimed at enhancing convenience, the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) will soon introduce an online khata correction facility, Munish Moudgil, Special Commissioner (Revenue and IT), Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA), announced on Thursday.
Mr. Moudgil said the initiative was designed to enable citizens to rectify errors in their khata details without procedural delays, making the system more efficient, transparent, and user-friendly. The plan has followed several complaints about need for visiting government offices for even smallest changes.
“Most corrections, including the area, ward changes, and check bandhi, will be enabled for self-modification,” he said. However, corrections related to the owner’s name and property measurements will not be permitted online.
He further reiterated that the GBA has introduced an automatic mutation system. Property transactions registered at sub-registrar offices will now be automatically updated in the records. After the mandatory notice period, the mutation process will be completed, and citizens will receive an SMS notification confirming the update after seven days. The same system is also introduced for inheritance properties as well.
E-Khata
Highlighting the improved pace in property owners obtaining e-Khatas in the city, Mr. Moudgil said that one e-Khata is being issued every 30 seconds in the city. He said that they were now receiving about 1,000 applications every day. He said that the final e-Khata is being issued within an average of five days.
He also reiterated that they have addressed the concerns over rejecting applications. Mr. Moudgil said a Rejection Audit Team (RAT) has been constituted to review such cases. “All rejected khatas are being reviewed by the RAT, and then the rejections are being approved. Those found to be unjustified are being revoked,” he said.
Further, the GBA has also called for tenders to establish and operate 10 comprehensive citizen service centres called GBA Guarantee Seva Kendras across the city, aimed at streamlining access to a wide range of civic services under a single roof. Once formed, people can rely on such seva kendras for all citizen services offered by the civic bodies in the city under the GBA.
