Minister for Industries S. Keerthana on Tuesday visited the SIPCOT Industrial Park near Manapparai to take stock of the allotments of plots and the industries that have started using the allotted plots.

Located on the Tiruchir–Dindigul National Highway, the park enjoys excellent connectivity through road, rail, air, and seaport facilities. Spread over an extent of 1,097.36 acres, the park has been developed to cater to food processing and general engineering industries.

According to sources, out of the total extent, 840.09 acres have been earmarked as allocatable area, and plots have so far been allotted to 30 industrial units in the park.

S.A. Raman, Managing Director, SIPCOT, Collector V. Saravanan and senior officials of SIPCOT accompanied Ms. Keerthana during her inspection of the park.

She reviewed the infrastructure and investment opportunities available in the park. The Minister interacted with the allottees of the industrial park to understand the industrial landscape, assess the growth potential of the region, and address the grievances raised by them.

During the interaction, Ms. Keerthana took note of issues relating to power supply, water supply, and other infrastructure requirements, and assured the allottees that necessary measures would be taken to resolve them at the earliest. Based on the inputs received from the stakeholders, the Minister also proposed initiatives to equip and train local youth in industry-relevant skills through industry-academia collaborations involving regional ITIs, polytechnic institutions, and other technical institutions.

The allottees represented the need for improved public transport connectivity to the industrial park. The Minister further took note of delays faced by industries in obtaining various statutory permits and instructed the officials concerned to expedite the processing of service requests and clearances.
