The Telangana Cabinet gave its approval for the launch of the second phase of Indiramma houses on June 1, allocation of ₹587 crore towards land acquisition for the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme, and ₹1,000 crore for the Godavari pushkarams and implementation of the mid-day meal scheme in all junior colleges.

The Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy approved construction of 2.5 lakh Indiramma houses allotting 2,000 houses to each Assembly constituency.

Minister for Revenue and Housing Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy informed the media at a press conference that the Cabinet also resolved to complete unfinished Indiramma houses initiated during the undivided Andhra Pradesh.

Financial assistance of ₹3 lakh will be provided for houses where foundations are completed but walls and slabs remain unfinished, while ₹2 lakh will be sanctioned for houses where walls were completed but slab works were pending. Funds will be allocated for completion of 500 such houses in every constituency.

Chief Minister will launch the second phase on June 1 and also inaugurate 28 newly constructed Indiramma houses for Kolam tribal families at Kothari village in Kerameri mandal of Komaram Bheem Asifabad district.

With an eye on the GHMC elections, the Cabinet also approved construction of one lakh low-income group (LIG) houses in 24 Assembly constituencies under the three Commissionerates in the city.

To make Telangana a hut-free State, the government has decided to provide houses to the 15,400 families living in huts across Telangana.

The Cabinet also approved ₹1,000 crore for development works related to the upcoming Godavari Pushkaralu scheduled from June 26 to July 7 next year. Of this, ₹300 crore was sanctioned as the first instalment.

The Minister said that the State government has decided to join the Centre’s Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) for strengthening power distribution and infrastructure development. He said the previous BRS goverment had entered into a tri-partite agreement with the Centre in 2017.

“We are joining the scheme as per the agreement to strengthen the power distribution sector,” he said but ruled out any link to installing electric meters for agriculture.

In the education sector, the Cabinet approved implementation of the mid-day meal scheme in all junior colleges across the State apart from providing breakfast and milk.

₹587 crore for PRLIS

Approval was also granted for allocation of ₹587 crore towards land acquisition, rehabilitation and infrastructure facilities of the Lakshmidevi Palli reservoir under the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme.

To boost investments, the Cabinet approved the Next Generation Life Sciences Policy 2026–30 with the goal of making Telangana one of the world’s top five life sciences hubs by 2030.

The policy aims to attract investments worth $25 billion dollars and generate five lakh jobs over the next five years and focus on high-value innovation, research and development.
