Two women riding a scooter to work were killed in a road accident that occurred on Obadenahalli Road in the Bashettihalli Industrial Area of Doddaballapur taluk on Monday. In a moving gesture, the families of both deceased women donated their eyes to the eye bank at Dr. Rajkumar Eye Bank.

The deceased have been identified as Ashwini, 31, a resident of Kantanakunte village, and Sahana, 22, a resident of Aruvanahalli. While Ashwini died on the spot, Sahana, who sustained critical injuries, was rushed to a hospital where she succumbed to her injuries during treatment.

According to the police, the accident took place at around 8.30 a.m. when the two women were riding on a scooter to their workplace in the Bashettihalli Industrial Area. A speeding tempo traveller allegedly collided with their bike, causing both riders to be thrown onto the road and suffer fatal injuries. A case has been registered and further investigation is under way.
