YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has warned of agitation if the State government harms the interests of fishermen.
Addressing people at Juvvaladinne village of Bagole mandal in the district on Wednesday (April 15, 2026), Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy questioned the delay in inaugurating the Juvvaladinne Fishing Harbour even after two years of its completion.
Alleging the involvement of HRD Minister N. Lokesh and Member of Parliament Beeda Masthan Rao behind the release of boats belonging to Tamil Nadu fishermen that had been seized by the local fishermen, the YSRCP chief said he had the call data purportedly showing evidence of the conspiracy.
“Juvvaladinne Fishing Harbour is an example of the injustices taking place in the State. The harbour has been completed during the YSRCP regime but could not be inaugurated due to the election code. After the NDA government came to power, the inaugural has been delayed, neglecting the welfare of fishermen,” he said.

“Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is giving land here to a private defence company and is conspiring to drive away fishermen from the village,” the YSRCP president alleged.
“The private defence company will be removed from the harbour area once the YSRCP government comes to power and also dedicate 10 fishing harbours in the State to the fishermen,” Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy said.
“While there are six ports in the State, we have started working on four at a cost of ₹16,000 crore. With an aim of improving the living standards of fishermen, we have also taken up construction of 10 fishing harbours at a cost of ₹3,800 crore and six fish landing centres at ₹150 crore,” he said.
There was rapid progress on these projects during the YSRCP tenure, he said. “We have completed land acquisition for the ports and obtained all permissions, and have tied up with banks for loans. We have created the AP State Maritime Board and taken these projects forward,” he added.
Ramayapatnam Port was almost 95% completed and Mulapeta Port in Srikakulam was 35% completed. In Machilipatnam, land acquisition had been completed and 35% of the work completed.
Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy questioned why the works pertaining to the three ports in the government sector had been pending even after two years of the NDA rule.
