The Malkajjgiri Police organised separate coordination meetings with members of the Muslim community and representatives of Gau Rakshak groups. Officials from various government departments, including the municipal administration, veterinary services, revenue, water works, fire services, medical department and transport department, also participated in the meetings.
Addressing the gathering, Malkajgiri Police Commissioner B. Sumathi said festivals such as Bakrid should be celebrated in an atmosphere of peace and mutual cooperation, reflecting unity within society.
She urged people not to believe rumours or misinformation circulating on social media and asked citizens to immediately alert police about suspicious vehicles, illegal transportation or unlawful activities.
Police also cautioned members of Gau Rakshak groups against taking the law into their own hands. Officials instructed them not to stop vehicles transporting cattle, assault individuals or conduct unauthorised inspections, and instead report suspicious incidents directly to local police.
Authorities appealed to citizens to ensure that animal slaughter takes place only at government-designated locations and to maintain hygiene by avoiding the dumping of animal remains in public spaces.
Officials said continuous surveillance would be maintained through CCTV cameras in sensitive areas as part of security arrangements for the festival.
