In the fertile Cauvery delta districts of Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Mayiladuthurai, and Nagapattinam, where agriculture shapes both economy and identity, 18 Assembly constituencies went to the polls this election. When the results were declared, only one woman emerged victorious.

T. Latha, 47, of the CPI(M), won from the Kilvelur (SC) in Nagapattinam district, becoming the sole woman MLA across the four districts.
