The West Asia conflict is likely to affect the supply of fertilisers in Karnataka this year.
Taking note of this, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah asked officials to take stringent measures to ensure that traders do not resort to hoarding fertilisers.
He also instructed the officials to ensure that farmers receive fertilisers without delay and to prevent illegal transportation of fertilisers to other States by heightening inspections at checkposts.
He urged officials to maintain constant vigil on fertiliser sales and to investigate the reasons behind the increased quantity of fertilisers sold in Haveri this year compared to previous years. Haveri has repeatedly experienced fertiliser shortages in some areas.
The Chief Minister observed that at present, there was no shortage of fodder in the State due to favourable monsoon seasons over the past two years. However, officials should take precautions to ensure that there is no shortage of fodder in the coming months, he said.
