Sivaganga police arrested six men in connection with the murder of a 33-year-old man near Thirupuvanam in Sivaganga district.
Police said, Vivek, 33, a resident of Thattankulam near Thiruppuvanam in Sivaganga district, was employed at a private finance company in Madurai.
In the early hours of May 4, Muthuramu, 22, from Maranadu and two others attempted to steal a two-wheeler parked in front of Vivek’s house.
Upon seeing this, Vivek and his relatives caught Muthuramu and handed him over to the police. The Thiruppuvanam police registered a case and arrested Muthuramu.
In this situation, on the night of May 7, a gang that arrived on two-wheelers hacked Vivek to death while he was talking with his friends Naveen, 22, and Mayilraj, 22. Based on a complaint filed by Vivek’s father, Manikandan, the Thiruppuvanam police registered a case.
Investigations revealed that Muthuramu’s supporters murdered Vivek out of anger because he had caught Muthuramu during the two-wheeler theft and handed him over to the police.
Subsequently, the police arrested six people: Alagusundaram. 20, from Maranadu, Sindhu, 24, and Alagesan, 20, from Kalayarkovil, Bala, 22, from Maragathapuli, and two juveniles.
