Delhi Police arrested 255 drug offenders, registered 212 cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and seized narcotics worth several lakhs during a 48-hour city-wide anti-narcotics drive, Operation Kavach 14.0, officials said on Friday. The drive coincided with the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, with the Delhi Lieutenant Governor calling for a “Nasha Mukt” Delhi.

The operation, carried out between June 22 and June 24, involved simultaneous raids at 4,035 locations across all 15 police districts, the Crime Branch, and the Special Cell. It was supervised by senior officers of the Anti-Narcotics Task Force, Crime Branch, and district police units.

Launched in May 2023, Operation Kavach is a periodic enforcement drive aimed at dismantling drug trafficking networks by targeting both street-level peddlers and organised suppliers, police said. Till May 31, 2026, Delhi Police had arrested 1,418 alleged offenders in 1,812 NDPS cases and seized over 1,653 kg of ganja, 23.3 kg of heroin, and other narcotic substances.

Senior officers said sustained enforcement has disrupted drug supply chains, forcing major traffickers to shift storage outside Delhi and transport smaller consignments through cars and trains instead of trucks.

In the latest drive, police seized 237.4 kg of ganja, 5.18 kg of hydroponic cannabis (OG), 1.09 kg of heroin, 159.8 gm of cocaine, 366.48 gm of charas, 101.1 gm of MDMA, 186 gm of methamphetamine, 2,640 buprenorphine tablets, and 287 Pheniramine injections. Cash worth ₹23.27 lakh was also recovered.

The operation involved 1,474 police teams drawn from all police stations and specialised units.

Apart from the anti-drug crackdown, police registered 398 cases under the Delhi Excise Act and arrested or apprehended 405 persons. Another 4,498 people were booked under Sections 40A and 40B of the Act for drinking in public places.

As part of preventive policing, 1,900 people were arrested under Sections 126 and 170 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), while 444 individuals were taken into preventive custody.
