Manjunatha G.A., Principal District and Sessions Judge, has appealed to motorists to utilise the 50% discount on traffic violation fines being offered for a limited period.

In a press conference in Shivamogga on Thursday, Mr. Manjunatha said the discount applies to e-challans generated for traffic violations committed before May this year. The special discount scheme runs from June 21 to July 10, for only 20 days. “This is a good opportunity for motorists to settle their outstanding dues,” he said.

Between August 28, 2023 and April 30, 2026, the Smart City Police Command registered 4,38,023 e-challans in Shivamogga, involving fines totalling ₹31,80,66,250. Of these, 1,38,986 cases have been settled with payment of ₹6,09,47,900. However, 2,99,037 cases remain pending, with outstanding fines of ₹23,71,18,350.

Motorists can pay fines online by visiting https://103.195.218.159/challan or at traffic police stations across the city. Special counters will operate from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Ashok Circle, Shivappa Nayaka Circle, Gopi Circle, and police chowki locations. Alternatively, motorists can settle fines with any assistant sub-inspector or senior officer equipped with an e-challan PDA machine.

Lok Adalat

The judge said that a National Lok Adalat will be held on July 11 in all courts. On that day, all civil disputes and compoundable criminal cases can be settled through mediation. Besides this, a special Lok Adalat for cheque bounce cases will be held on July 18. There are 7,255 cheque bounce cases registered in the district.

The cases pending in the Supreme Court will be heard in the special Lok Adalat — Samadhan Samaroh 2026, over three days from August 21 to 23. As many as 23 cases related to Shivamogga district have been identified and referred for the Lok Adalat, he added.

Senior Civil Judge Santhosh M.S., who is also member-secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, and Traffic Police Inspector Devaraj were present at the press conference.
