Despite a multi-cornered contest, the DMK-led secular alliance will win the Assembly elections and form the government, DMDK leader Premallatha Vijayakant said in Virudhunagar on Thursday (April 16, 2026).
Canvassing votes for her party candidate, V. Vijayaprabakaran, she said if the DMDK nominee was elected, he would work towards establishing a dental college in Virudhunagar.
Similarly, three high-level bridges across Kousika river would be constructed and a by-pass road connecting Madurai-Virudhunagar highway from Chatrareddiyapatti with Aruppukottai Road would be laid to decongest the traffic in Virudhunagar town.
She also promised that a truck terminal would be set up on the highway.
Stating that the opposition would claim that Mr. Vijayaprabhakaran was an outsider, Ms. Premallatha said the native place of Vijayakantcc was in Virudhunagar.
“He has already rented a house here. Upon winning, he would set up his house in the constituency and be with the local people. Only for official work, he would come to Chennai,” she said.
The DMK Government had promised to give ₹8,000 coupons to help women to buy electrical appliances of their choice, she added.
